Nike Training Club App Review + New Year’s FOTD

beauty FOTD & NTC application

Happy New Year! I recently switched from iPhone to Android (when my phone and Michael Kors purse, and everything else inside, were rudely stolen) I get bored of the same thing so I decided to switch it up. Anyhow, the biggest loss in the transition besides emoji’s and group texting was my beloved Nike Training Club app. But I found out they just recently released it for android, yay! This app is awesome. Let me elaborate…

Nike Training Club App Review

The Nike Training Club app is FREE, which still amazes me.
You can choose first to focus on getting lean, toned, strong, or focused. They all contain good workouts, so I switch it up a bit. Then you choose medium, intermediate or advanced. Finally, you choose a specific workout.

Once you decide on that, you begin your workout, which could vary from 15, 30 or 45 minutes (there may be a 60 minute one in there but I’m not brave enough for that.) The features that make this app stand out to me above others is the flow and transition between workouts, there is nothing worse than custom workouts where you pick and choose between each set, leaving you resting for 5 minutes between each 30 second workout.

Also, it has video and pictures of every move in case you aren’t familiar with it, or just want to see if you’re doing it right. For a little more motivation, the girls performing the moves are super toned which gives you a little extra push (and make you want all of their Nike gear, too)

So how intense can a workout on your phone be? Well, I regularly attend boot camp with a personal trainer, boxing, zumba, strength training classes, etc and these little 15 to 30 minute NTC sessions kick my butt.

You can set music in the app but I generally just turn on my Pandora app, the trainer voiceover will automatically adjust your volume to tell you what to do next, then go back to your music.

At the completion of your workout, you receive points toward workout rewards (smoothie recipes and various goodies) and a little extra motivation (sadly with a new phone I have to start all over, since you don’t have an actual account, just the data on your phone)

Or, you can choose to do a specific athletes workout routine, like Shawn Johnson’s stretch routine or Hope Solo’s workout.

Overall this app is incredibly motivating, and covers everything I would look for in an application. I am stoked that they finally released it for Android, and would recommend checking it out, even if you are an advanced athlete. It offers options from strength training, intense to light cardio, stretching, yoga, etc.

Anyway, New Years Eve pictures!
