FOTD with coastal scents, tarte & beautyblender (+ reviews)

19 Mar

I received my mini Sephora order the other day and had to share two of the products..

Sephora haul

The beautyblender sponge ($25 for 2pack)beautyblender review + FOTD

Here is the beautyblender right out of the package (the indent went away) Looks like a normal, basic sponge, right? Why would anyone pay $20 for a sponge? well, I understand why now.

You can use it dry or wet, but its super easy to wet it, run it under water for a second and squeeze it, it’s like magic. It kind of inflates (but isn’t even noticeably wet) You place your liquid foundation spotted around on your face, then just dab/pounce the large end of the beauty blender all around your face. When you wet it, it doesn’t soak up and waste much of your foundation, as most sponges would do.

It applies foundation flawlessly, I understand what the craze with this product is about now.  Additionally, you use the pointy end to bounce in concealer. It shapes perfectly around your eyes/nose/t-zone area. Great product, and I would totally recommend it. I was also skeptical about paying $20 for a sponge, but this is a staple in my makeup, and has amazingly put my tarte airbrush finish foundation brush to the side for awhile.

The other stand-out product I received was the:

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse ($28)

Amazonian clay waterproof brow mousse -

I have sparse brows, that just won’t grow, so I’ve tried many products to help fill and shape them. So many eyebrow pencils/fillers are just the wrong color, don’t last, or just don’t look natural, but I think I’ve found a great thing in this product.

I order Taupe (a natural blonde color) and it blends nicely, I enjoy the mousse formula, it lasts and helps shape my brows. The brush is really handy because it both combs and has the brush end.

In the photos below I’ve used both the beauty blender & Tarte emphasEYESbeautyblender review & purple eye FOTDAdditional Products:

Sidenote: I don’t do any retouching to these pictures, considering I’m trying to showcase the makeup and how the product works and looks, so there will be imperfections and whatnot.

Have you tried the beautyblender or tarte brow mousse? I recommend them!

This year I think I’m going to get all crazy and try the fake eyelashes. Although, everytime I try to apply them myself I regret doing it, because I can never get them applied right.

Nike Training Club App Review + New Year’s FOTD

2 Jan beauty FOTD & NTC application

beauty FOTD & NTC application

Happy New Year! I recently switched from iPhone to Android (when my phone and Michael Kors purse, and everything else inside, were rudely stolen) I get bored of the same thing so I decided to switch it up. Anyhow, the biggest loss in the transition besides emoji’s and group texting was my beloved Nike Training Club app. But I found out they just recently released it for android, yay! This app is awesome. Let me elaborate…

Nike Training Club App Review

The Nike Training Club app is FREE, which still amazes me.
You can choose first to focus on getting lean, toned, strong, or focused. They all contain good workouts, so I switch it up a bit. Then you choose medium, intermediate or advanced. Finally, you choose a specific workout.

Once you decide on that, you begin your workout, which could vary from 15, 30 or 45 minutes (there may be a 60 minute one in there but I’m not brave enough for that.) The features that make this app stand out to me above others is the flow and transition between workouts, there is nothing worse than custom workouts where you pick and choose between each set, leaving you resting for 5 minutes between each 30 second workout.

Also, it has video and pictures of every move in case you aren’t familiar with it, or just want to see if you’re doing it right. For a little more motivation, the girls performing the moves are super toned which gives you a little extra push (and make you want all of their Nike gear, too)

So how intense can a workout on your phone be? Well, I regularly attend boot camp with a personal trainer, boxing, zumba, strength training classes, etc and these little 15 to 30 minute NTC sessions kick my butt.

You can set music in the app but I generally just turn on my Pandora app, the trainer voiceover will automatically adjust your volume to tell you what to do next, then go back to your music.

At the completion of your workout, you receive points toward workout rewards (smoothie recipes and various goodies) and a little extra motivation (sadly with a new phone I have to start all over, since you don’t have an actual account, just the data on your phone)

Or, you can choose to do a specific athletes workout routine, like Shawn Johnson’s stretch routine or Hope Solo’s workout.

Nike Training Club App Review

Overall this app is incredibly motivating, and covers everything I would look for in an application. I am stoked that they finally released it for Android, and would recommend checking it out, even if you are an advanced athlete. It offers options from strength training, intense to light cardio, stretching, yoga, etc.

Anyway, New Years Eve pictures!

Tokidoki ‘Robbery’ Palette FOTD

6 Dec tokidoki robbery palette

2012-12-05 14.50.20

I’m not positive why I’ve decided to start a blog around 5 in the morning, but here we go. Considering my tremendous makeup addiction, I’ve decided to start keeping my reviews, swatches, etc somewhere. Personally, I try not to purchase any makeup without checking reviews and swatches of the items, so if I can contribute, and save someone from purchasing bad products or promote them to buy deserving products, great.

Today I pulled out my Tokidoki palette from awhile ago, I used the “robbery” palette for this specific look, which was pretty quick.

First, apply an eyeshadow primer, I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance – Candlelight, since this is a shimmery look

Lion Pappa – apply all over the lid, into the inner corner and under the lower lashes

Savana – apply lightly on the crease using wiper motions with the brush, blending out the color

Ercolino – apply on the outer 3/4 of the lid and under lower lashes

Bulletto – apply in a V shape on the outer corner, blend slightly into the crease and pull some under the eye

Eyeliner (waterline & tightline) Milani Liquif”eye Metallic eye liner pencil in 01 Black

Liquid Liner: Loreal Carbon Black Lineur Intense felt tip liquid eyeliner

Mascara: Maybelline the Falsies volum’ express

Contour: Benefit Hoola

Lips: Milani HD Advanced Lip Color in ‘Ignition’

I really like most of the colors in this particular Tokidoki palette from Sephora, the colors all have a nice payoff and are long lasting.
