Nike Training Club App Review + New Year’s FOTD

2 Jan beauty FOTD & NTC application

beauty FOTD & NTC application

Happy New Year! I recently switched from iPhone to Android (when my phone and Michael Kors purse, and everything else inside, were rudely stolen) I get bored of the same thing so I decided to switch it up. Anyhow, the biggest loss in the transition besides emoji’s and group texting was my beloved Nike Training Club app. But I found out they just recently released it for android, yay! This app is awesome. Let me elaborate…

Nike Training Club App Review

The Nike Training Club app is FREE, which still amazes me.
You can choose first to focus on getting lean, toned, strong, or focused. They all contain good workouts, so I switch it up a bit. Then you choose medium, intermediate or advanced. Finally, you choose a specific workout.

Once you decide on that, you begin your workout, which could vary from 15, 30 or 45 minutes (there may be a 60 minute one in there but I’m not brave enough for that.) The features that make this app stand out to me above others is the flow and transition between workouts, there is nothing worse than custom workouts where you pick and choose between each set, leaving you resting for 5 minutes between each 30 second workout.

Also, it has video and pictures of every move in case you aren’t familiar with it, or just want to see if you’re doing it right. For a little more motivation, the girls performing the moves are super toned which gives you a little extra push (and make you want all of their Nike gear, too)

So how intense can a workout on your phone be? Well, I regularly attend boot camp with a personal trainer, boxing, zumba, strength training classes, etc and these little 15 to 30 minute NTC sessions kick my butt.

You can set music in the app but I generally just turn on my Pandora app, the trainer voiceover will automatically adjust your volume to tell you what to do next, then go back to your music.

At the completion of your workout, you receive points toward workout rewards (smoothie recipes and various goodies) and a little extra motivation (sadly with a new phone I have to start all over, since you don’t have an actual account, just the data on your phone)

Or, you can choose to do a specific athletes workout routine, like Shawn Johnson’s stretch routine or Hope Solo’s workout.

Nike Training Club App Review

Overall this app is incredibly motivating, and covers everything I would look for in an application. I am stoked that they finally released it for Android, and would recommend checking it out, even if you are an advanced athlete. It offers options from strength training, intense to light cardio, stretching, yoga, etc.

Anyway, New Years Eve pictures!

Influenster Holiday VoxBox ’12 Review & Swatches

29 Dec

Hi Guys, I received my Influencer Holiday VoxBox 2012 in the mail a week or two ago, but I gave myself some time to try out the products as well as catch up within the holiday madness.

influenster holiday voxbox 2012 review

Influenster Holiday VoxBox 2012 Review

I first tried out the NYC Liquid Lipshine in ‘Nude York City,’ I’d heard about the NYC lip glosses being a steal, considering they are under $3 and available at Target, they had nice color options and weren’t sticky and gross on your lips. So I was excited to find out for myself. Everything I’d heard seems to be true, although this is a nude color, it’s a really pretty nude with a lot of shimmer, but not over the top. It was a nice gloss, but wasn’t sticky and goopy like some gloss formulas. I would definitely recommend these NYC Liquid Lipshine’s, I’ll be trying out more in the future.

Here are a few swatches of the NYC Liquid Lipshine in ‘Nude York City’

Next I tried the Goody QuikStyle Half Round Brush

Image

What they say: The Goody® QUIKSTYLE™ Half-Round Styler Brush is the perfect blow out brush with a convex half-round shape that allows hair to curl around the microfiber base, removing water while adding lift and body as you blow dry!

Featuring
• Absorbent microfiber bristles remove 30% of water for faster styling*
• Antimicrobial microfiber* bristles keep brush fresh
• Comfort-flex grip for ease and control
• Slim profile offers more maneuverable use
• Side vents for fast drying between uses
• Easy to follow usage and cleaning instructions on packaging
• Available in an assortment of bristle tip colors in charcoal, blue, and lime green on a neutral silver base with blue microfiber

$11.99

What I say: This brush has so much potential, I love the concept of it, but it fell short on one deal-breaking aspect for me. The idea that is soaks up extra moisture after you shower is genius, and the fact that it is shaped as a half round-barrel brush is also impressive for those of us who need a little extra volume. But the brush itself hurt my head, it was extremely uncomfortable. If they tweak the bristles or whatever it is that makes the brush so unpleasant when actually being used, this would be an amazing brush.

Have you tried this brush? Is it just me that it hurts when brushing?

Next, I tried the Kiss Nail Dress in ‘Teddy’ or KDS15

Kiss Nail Dress in 'Teddy' or KDS15 review

When I first got these in the Influenster box, I really didn’t want to use them, they just seem tacky to me, but it’s a good thing I tried them, I’m actually super impressed. Above you can see what comes in the package, a bunch of different sizes (used for fingers or toes) and a two-sided file. First let me say, I’d never done this before, nor expected much. I originally was just going to apply one to show, but was impressed that I finished them. Now I plan to keep them for new years.

Kiss Nail Dress in 'Teddy' review

How cool? Once the nails are filed down they look nice, and I look pretty impressive with my nail art capabilities. The nail pieces are sticky, and seem to be held pretty well in place. I just applied them today, so I’m not positive how long they will last, they are advertised to last up to 10 days, but I will update with that information. Some of the nail art comes with added jewels (like mine) and some are just flat designs, my only concern with the added jewels is that there is more dimension and slightly rigid at the tip of the nail where you file, and I’m afraid it will catch on things. I want to try this floral design without the jewels and see if those seem more secure:

Kiss Nail Dress in KDS18

Overall, I had no desire in this product before I received it and gave it a shot. Now, as long as the product stays on for a few days, I’ll purchase them in the future. They’re definitely worth a shot, and look much better on your nails than you would expect from what you see in the package.

Kiss Nail Dress in 'Teddy' or KDS15

Update: Sadly, these nails did not even last me until new years day. One day later they were peeling off, the edges just never fully stuck on which left a tiny edge to catch on everything, and it was really frustrating.

kiss press on nails after one day

kiss press on nails after one day

As you can see, some I just had to fully peel off because they were so far gone, and the others you can see the tips slowly peeling. After only one day this was pretty disappointing  I dont know if it could be because of the jewels in this particular design, but I guess your best bet with the Kiss Nails is for a one night type of deal.

I haven’t had the chance to try out the Quaker, Eboost or SoleSociety products yet, but as soon as I do, this post will be updated.

Conair Infiniti Pro 1875-Watt blow dryer review

28 Dec

This is a review of the Infiniti Pro by Conair™ 1875-watt blow dryer.

image

I’ve owned the Infiniti Pro by Conair™ 1875-Watt Salon-Performance AC Motor Styling Tool Model 294 for a while now, I wanted to give it a good run before giving an honest review.

Here is the basic product description:
Infiniti Pro by Conair 294 Full Size Dryer – Salon performance AC Motor – Up to 50% faster drying time and up to 3x longer life. Unique OMBRE finish. 1875 watts. Ionic technology. Tourmaline ceramic technology. 3 heat and 2 speed rocker switches. True cold shot button. Removeable filter. Hang Ring.

Overall, I really enjoy this blow dryer. It drys my hair super fast and the ‘medium’ power is pretty darn high, so the ‘high’ is an awesome super speed.  If you’re looking for a really light, slow speed, this dryer wouldn’t be for you.

Another plus, is the cold shot button. Most dryers only offer a cool shot, but this device actually has an AC motor to produce cold air.

It comes with two attachments:
A diffuser attachment that distributes harsh dryer heat more evenly throughout the hair and a concentrator attachment directs airflow, giving greater control during styling.

It prevents frizz and enhances shine, which I do think it succeeds in.

The dryer is four pounds, when I read reviews before purchasing this I found a lot of negative comments that it was too heavy, but it seemed to have enough positive reviews that made it seem worth it. I do not think this blow dryer is too heavy, it is no heavier than any blow dryer I’ve previously had. Sure, I’d like one that weighs .5 lbs, but that’s just not going to happen.

Finally, this is a great blow dryer. Check it out here.
Or find it at Ulta (where I got mine) or CVS, Target, etc.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe Review/Swatch + Bonus Deal at Walgreens!

20 Dec

So I went to Walgreens yesterday to pick up a few things and use some rewards, here is what I ended up with:Walgreens Haul

Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Liner (haven’t tried it out yet)
Neutrogena 3-in-1 concealer for eyes
London SOHO brushes (I’ve used the crease brush and I really like it so far, the bristles are nice, and it was on clearance for $4.99!)
Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer
Maybelline Super Stay Makeup in Nude & Natural Beige

Maybelline Color Tatto Tough as Taupe Swatch

I was excited to try the Maybelline Color Tattoo that I purchased in Tough as Taupe, you can see above that it is a pretty matte color, and could potentially be hard to wear alone. So I tested it out with some other taupe-like shadows…

First I grabbed my Urban Decay Eye Shadow Insurance Policy Palette:Urban Decay Glamazon with Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe

The left is the Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe alone, the right is Urban Decay Glamazon alone, and the middle is Glamazon applied over Tough as Taupe. It’s sooooo pretty and vibrant.

So I had to try another, a more matte shade:

Coastal Scents and Maybelline Tough as Taupe

Coastal Scents brown shade & Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe

The right two are the same as above, the far left is a brown shade in my Coastal Scents 88 Color Palette (which I highly recommend) and the next is that same shade over Tough as Taupe. This one wasn’t as exciting, but it showcases how much more vibrant these color tattoo shades can make shadows.

Lastly, I grabbed my Wet n Wild single eyeshadow in Nutty:

Wet n Wild in Nutty and Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe

Left: Wet n Wild in Nutty | Right: Nutty placed over Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe

Again, it made the shimmery shade much more vibrant, and gave it a perfect base.

Overall, Color Tattoo – Tough as Taupe works really well as a base color, much like the MAC paint pots. If only they would make one to dupe MAC Paint Pot in Painterly.

This is definitely a keeper for me, and I’m looking forward to trying some of the other shades. After I swatched these I scrubbed my hands and the color tattoo marks barely budged.

Here is a quick swatch of the Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer, this is supposed to cover up redness and I approve of the packaging, in an easy-to-use stick. I’ve seen this used in youtube tutorials so I had to give it a shot.Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer

So after I got home and unloaded my supplies, I found this:

Walgreens Beauty Sample Box

I’d never heard about this, so I’m pretty interested to get this in the mail. Apparently when you make a beauty purchase of $30 or more at Walgreens you’ll receive this voucher with a code to claim your beauty box (until 2/14/13)

My options were Beauty Must Haves, Beauty Cravings, or Radient Skin. I went with Beauty Cravings because it seems to include both hair and makeup products. I’ll definitely be reviewing this when it comes within 4-6 weeks.

Have you tried any of the Maybelline Color Tattoo shades? If not, you should check them out!

Review: Crown Smart Pouch for Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, iPhone 4, 4S

17 Dec Crown Smart Pouch for Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, iPhone 4, 4S

Hello! I wanted to review a product I received in the mail today…

Crown Smart Pouch

Crown Smart Pouch in Mint

It’s a wallet/purse for Samsung Galaxy S2, S3 or iPhone 4, 4S

I have the Samsung Galaxy S2, which is about as big as a phone gets, plus a case (I would have demonstrated with the phone inside, but I needed to use it for the photos) and it fits inside nice and snug.

This purse is SO CUTE. Want to know what makes it even more attractive?
It cost a whole $7.50, shipped.

Even better? You can get it right now for $5.92, shipped (on sale) I just took advantage and purchased one in every color and a few doubles for gifts. How could I not?

Ok, so about this product..
My Samsung Galaxy S3 fits in the back opening nicely, it also has slots for you to use your headphone jack or even charge the phone while it’s in the wallet (i’m not positive why that’s necessary, but it’s cool nonetheless.)

The purse is nicely made, its simple and the two tone colors give it a slight vintage feel. It’s compact, but you have plenty of room for change (there is a zipped change area) credit cards, money, license, you may even be able to stash a lipgloss or something essential inside, too.

About the seller, I received the package in about two weeks (I didn’t keep track, considering shipping is free) the clutch was nicely packaged in bubble wrap and came in a clear branded box. I was nervous for a second because the handle wasn’t attached, but it was folded and stored inside the clutch.

UPDATE (01/07/13):

I had to purchase a bunch more for myself and gifts. Here are some photos of the other colors, I believe I got all colors besides the orange…

Here are a few photos from the seller (ebay):

Here you can see that it accommodates either the Galaxy or iPhone

I would highly recommend this clutch, and it works for both Galaxy or iPhones (it would probably work with an iPhone 5 as well, just don’t take my word for it.) Here is the link to the seller/product on ebay:

And if you’ve never used ebay before, you don’t give the seller your credit card information, everything is done through PayPal. If you’re not familiar with PayPal, it’s a secure way to purchase things online, either from your bank/checking account, credit card, etc. So you don’t have to worry about giving sellers your personal information.

Let me know what you think. In my next shipment I’m definitely keeping the beige and light pink ones for myself.

Ferrero Rocher Review: Melt in your mouth chocolates

11 Dec ferrero rocher

I received a VoxBox from Influenster this weekend, it was exciting coming home to an adorable box of chocolates.

“Ferrero Rocher® is a unique and delicious chocolate experience made by Italian chocolatier Ferrero, since 1982. The chocolates are a tempting combination of smooth chocolaty cream surrounding a whole hazelnut; within a delicate, crisp wafer. . . all enveloped in milk chocolate and finely chopped hazelnuts. The chocolates are individually wrapped in gold foil.”

Image

Influenster and Ferrero Rocher sent me a fancy gift box filled with 18 delicious hazelnut chocolates complimentary for testing and review purposes. I’m not a huge chocolate or sweets eater, but these are SO good, and I’m not just saying this because I received the product for free. I will absolutely buy these again or give them as a gift. The packaging I received them in is perfect to present to someone in, and can be reused. I’m still trying to decide what I’ll repurpose mine as. But back to the chocolates, they have a crunchy shell, once you bite into it you’ll reach the creamy decedent middle filled with chocolate and hazelnut. Me typing about them isn’t do them any justice, you’re going to have to try them for yourself. My only complaint, I cannot eat just one. It is merely impossible.

Check out other available gift or self-indulgence options here: http://www.ferrerorocherusa.com/

In a nutshell, you review products and get the opportunity to sample products to give an honest opinion on. It’s also helpful just to see what others feel about specific products before you potentially make a purchase.

Revlon Lip Butters & Super Lustrous Lipgloss Swatches

7 Dec

Well, it’s that time again, when CVS puts a ton of products on clearance and I stock up on things I already don’t need, but just have to have.

I picked up some Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters, Super Lustrous Lipgloss, as well as a few Milani Lipsticks.

Here is a brief review/swatches of what I grabbed:

REVLON COLORBURST LIP BUTTER
(flash & no flash)

ImageImage

These lip butters are so moisturizing, and comfortable to wear, but I was only happy with one of the three colors I picked up (raspberry pie). The flash makes the color look much more vibrant than it generally looks, what you see on the right is moreso what you’re working with. As for Strawberry Shortcake, it was too frostyand light for my skintone, and Peach Parfait didn’t look like much of anything (although it looks really nice with a flash) I’d personally rather have something with a little more color payoff.

Milani Lipstick

ImageImageImage

These lipsticks were pretty moisturizing,

Red Label is a nice vibrant red.

Orange-Gina is going to head back to CVS. The color isn’t bad, but I personally don’t like my lipstick to look shimmery, and the color combination just wasn’t working for me.

Barely There is a good nude color, could be nice used under a gloss to mute out the lips or to apply a lipstick over. A lot of nude lip colors can be drying, and this one definitely isn’t.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss

Image

Image

Peach Petal is a very light pink, almost transparant.

Pink Pop is gorgeous. One of my favorites, this was the main one that I wanted to get my hands on and I’m glad I finally did (even better getting it for $2.25) I’m not sure my late night picture skills really do it justice.

Coral Reef isn’t anything super impressive to me. It was pretty standard of a color, but still gives a nice gloss luster.

Image

Nude Luster is a gloss that I already have, and purchased a back up. It very much nude, basically the color of my lips, but it goes perfectly over lipstick. This one makes my lips look fuller and more plump.

Lilac is very pretty, I don’t wear it often because sometimes I feel like it clashes with whatever I’m wearing on the rest of my face, but it’s definitely a good one and different from the others.

Firecracker is a nice light red, this one also makes your lips look super full and plump, giving them a slight red tint.

Cherries in the Glow is a pretty redish-pink color. It’s pretty close to Firecracker, as you can see.

Overall, I really like these glosses, as mentioned they make your lips look fuller and more plump with a lot of shine, while not being gooey. Some of them are really great colors, while others are quite similar to each other. My personal favorite is Nude Luster and Pink Pop.

Have you tried any of these Revlon or Milani products?

Considering CVS’ clearance, I definitely didn’t make it out of the store with just the things listed above, I added to my nail polish collection as well…

On another note, I went shopping for a dress today..

The gold one was amazing, and would have been perfect for NYE, but overall, the mint dress will be best for the occasion this weekend and I’ll be able to wear it more often. Plus, it was more comfortable.

Anyway, I’m new to this blogging, but I’d love some followers so I can actually interact with people interested in the same type of things. I’d say feel free to ask any questions…
